Since its inception as a non-proft organization in March 2002, the Ballet Folklórico Aztlán has enjoyed meteoric success, performing well over hundreds of shows in Canada, Mexico, and Italy for thousands of people and racking up several prestigious awards, including an Ohtli Prix (The highest honor the Mexican Government grants to Mexicans abroad), Latin Awards Canada as Best Folklore Ballet, and several awards from the Mexican Federal Government, the Cities of Ottawa, Montreal and Gatineau, the Canadian Federal Government and the city of Rome in Italy, among others.
